Aerospace Paint Supervisor

We are recruiting for a very well-established aerospace manufacturing company based in Chelmsford is seeking an experienced and hands-on Aerospace Paint Supervisor to lead its growing Masking Department.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated Aerospace Paint Supervisor who enjoys leading teams, improving processes, and working within a fast-paced engineering environment where quality and precision are critical.

The Role

As an Aerospace Paint Supervisor, you will oversee the daily operation of the Masking Department, manage a skilled team of 6 day-shift employees while coordinating with 2 night-shift staff to ensure productivity, quality, and workflow efficiency remain at the highest standards.

You will play a key role in driving team performance, solving production challenges, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the day-to-day running of the Masking Department
  • Support, motivate, and develop the masking team
  • Allocate workloads and manage production priorities
  • Interpret engineering drawings and support team training
  • Work closely with Inspection and Site Management to resolve technical queries
  • Monitor productivity, quality standards, and department performance
  • Drive continuous improvement and operational efficiency
  • Maintain masking templates and ensure correct usage
  • Manage consumable stock levels within the department
  • Ensure health, safety, and quality standards are consistently maintained

Experience Required as an Aerospace Paint Supervisor

  • Previous masking experience within manufacturing or engineering
  • Aerospace experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Hands-on and proactive management style
  • Strong communication and team leadership abilities
