Assembly Operative – General Assembly
Location: Denham, West London
Salary: £30,000–£35,000 per annum + overtime opportunity at x1.5
Hours: Monday to Thursday, 8:00am–5:00pm; Friday, 8:00am–12:00pm
Benefits: Overtime opportunities offering potential additional earnings of up to approximately £8,000 per year

We are recruiting an experienced Assembly Operative to join an established aerospace manufacturing operation in Denham. This is a permanent position involving the assembly of precision components and sub-assemblies to strict engineering, quality and safety standards.
The successful Assembly Operative will work from engineering drawings, job cards, work instructions and build plans to complete a variety of general assembly operations. The position would suit someone with a manufacturing or engineering background who is comfortable using hand tools, engineering jigs and basic measuring equipment.
The Role
- Assemble a wide range of components and sub-assemblies in accordance with engineering drawings and work instructions.
- Accurately identify part numbers, drawing revisions, process specifications and required finishes.
- Complete assembly work to the required quality standards and production schedules.
- Use engineering jigs, specialist tooling and general hand tools.
- Carry out measurements using rulers, calipers and micrometers.
- Inspect completed work and identify any defects or non-conforming components.
- Check materials, fixtures and threads to ensure they are suitable for use.
- Record work in progress, component locations and production information accurately.
- Report quality concerns, recurring errors and equipment issues to the Cell Leader.
- Follow standard operating procedures, COSHH requirements and health and safety regulations.
- Support 5S, Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement activities.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment.
The Successful Candidate
- Previous assembly experience within a manufacturing, engineering or aerospace environment.
- Able to read and interpret engineering drawings, build plans and work instructions.
- Familiar with engineering hand tools, jigs and specialist tooling.
- Experience using basic measuring equipment, including calipers and micrometers.
- Good understanding of quality control and self-inspection procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work accurately.
- Basic IT skills.
- Understanding of health and safety procedures and COSHH regulations.
- Able to work effectively as part of a manufacturing team.
Desirable Experience
- Riveting.
- Pipe bending.
- Swaging.
- Working with adhesives.
- Composite materials.
- SAP or similar manufacturing systems.
- Mechanical apprenticeship or relevant engineering qualification.
