MTS Recruitment is currently recruiting for an experienced Bid Writer to join an established business delivering engineering and manufacturing solutions. This hybrid role combines working from home with time at the company’s Hayes office.

You will develop compelling, technically accurate tender responses, turning complex information into clear, persuasive submissions that demonstrate value and meet customer requirements.

The Role

  • Review Invitations to Tender (ITTs), identifying submission requirements, evaluation criteria and deadlines.
  • Write and compile comprehensive responses to Pre-Qualification Questionnaires (PQQs) and tender submissions.
  • Develop structured answer plans, win themes and evidence-based narratives tailored to each opportunity.
  • Work closely with subject matter experts to gather technical information and translate it into persuasive bid content.
  • Ensure submissions meet all requirements, including technical accuracy, formatting and supporting evidence.
  • Support the Head of Bid Management throughout the bid lifecycle, from planning through to final review and submission.
  • Review and adapt existing content to ensure responses remain relevant and customer-focused.
  • Maintain and improve the bid library, keeping information accurate, current and easy to use.
  • Occasionally support marketing activities, including copywriting, case studies and brochures.

Requirements

  • Previous bid writing experience within engineering, manufacturing, construction or civil engineering.
  • Experience producing public sector bids, including submissions for councils and local authorities.
  • A strong understanding of frameworks, PQQs and ITT requirements.
  • Proven ability to develop bid response plans, win themes and high-quality narratives.
  • Degree-level education or equivalent.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver accurate work within tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Copilot.
  • A commercially aware, proactive approach and an evidence-based, benefit-led writing style.
  • Experience using AI tools such as Copilot or Claude would be advantageous.
