About the Buyer Role
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Buyer to join our Purchasing team based at our Woodside facility. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated purchasing professional with experience in a manufacturing environment to play a key role in ensuring materials and components are sourced efficiently, cost-effectively, and delivered in line with operational requirements.
The successful candidate will be responsible for purchasing a wide range of materials and aircraft parts, managing supplier relationships, maintaining inventory levels, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the supply chain.
Buyer Key Responsibilities
- Purchase materials and components in line with production requirements and schedules.
- Raise and manage purchase orders, ensuring timely fulfilment and delivery.
- Monitor inventory levels and maintain stock within agreed guidelines.
- Progress chase outstanding orders and manage supplier performance.
- Investigate and resolve supply chain issues through root cause analysis.
- Source new suppliers and identify opportunities for cost savings, discounts, and volume rebates.
- Create and maintain daily shortage reports.
- Monitor shipments arriving from outside the UK.
- Maintain and update the Approved Supplier List.
- Work closely with internal departments to ensure continuity of supply.
- Support supplier performance reviews, scorecards, and business review meetings.
- Manage supplier complaints and non-conformance issues.
- Ensure compliance with company quality procedures and purchasing processes.
- Contribute to continuous improvement activities aimed at reducing spend and increasing efficiency.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Previous experience in a Buyer or Purchasing role within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience managing suppliers and building effective supplier relationships.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Experience using ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Understanding of inventory management and supply chain processes.
- Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced operational environment.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
- Experience within the aerospace industry.
- Knowledge of AS9100 quality standards and QMS processes.
- Experience with Epicor ERP and Qpulse systems.
- Knowledge of aerospace procurement databases and software packages.
- Experience of Supplier Relationship Management (SRM).
