About the Buyer Role

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Buyer to join our Purchasing team based at our Woodside facility. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated purchasing professional with experience in a manufacturing environment to play a key role in ensuring materials and components are sourced efficiently, cost-effectively, and delivered in line with operational requirements.

The successful candidate will be responsible for purchasing a wide range of materials and aircraft parts, managing supplier relationships, maintaining inventory levels, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the supply chain.

Buyer Key Responsibilities

  • Purchase materials and components in line with production requirements and schedules.
  • Raise and manage purchase orders, ensuring timely fulfilment and delivery.
  • Monitor inventory levels and maintain stock within agreed guidelines.
  • Progress chase outstanding orders and manage supplier performance.
  • Investigate and resolve supply chain issues through root cause analysis.
  • Source new suppliers and identify opportunities for cost savings, discounts, and volume rebates.
  • Create and maintain daily shortage reports.
  • Monitor shipments arriving from outside the UK.
  • Maintain and update the Approved Supplier List.
  • Work closely with internal departments to ensure continuity of supply.
  • Support supplier performance reviews, scorecards, and business review meetings.
  • Manage supplier complaints and non-conformance issues.
  • Ensure compliance with company quality procedures and purchasing processes.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement activities aimed at reducing spend and increasing efficiency.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Previous experience in a Buyer or Purchasing role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience managing suppliers and building effective supplier relationships.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Experience using ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Understanding of inventory management and supply chain processes.
  • Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable

  • Experience within the aerospace industry.
  • Knowledge of AS9100 quality standards and QMS processes.
  • Experience with Epicor ERP and Qpulse systems.
  • Knowledge of aerospace procurement databases and software packages.
  • Experience of Supplier Relationship Management (SRM).
