Tool Maker/ Centreless Grinder
We have an excellent opportunity for a Skilled Centreless Grinder orTool Maker to join our production team, reporting directly to the Production Manager. This role would suit an experienced engineer, ideally from the aerospace sector, who is confident setting and running centreless grinding machines and working to tight tolerances.
You will play a key role in delivering high-quality components while supporting our zero-defect and continuous improvement culture, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to agreed standards.
Centreless Grinder Key Responsibilities
- Set and run centreless grinders, including Wickman Scrivener, Ghiringhelli, Cincinnati, or Tschudin machines (essential).
- Operate Myford Grinder (desirable).
- Support 2nd Operations machines as required, including thread rolling, part marking, drill banks, depitching presses, torque testers, and manual/rotary deburring.
- Carry out first-off inspections, buddy checks, and job-run inspections for 1st and 2nd operations.
- Maintain high standards of health and safety, ensuring correct PPE is used at all times.
- Reduce scrap and rework by identifying inefficiencies and reporting improvements to the Production Manager.
- Maintain machine efficiency to support on-time delivery, PPH, arrears, and KPI targets.
- Complete daily maintenance checks and cycle time sheets.
- Ensure a clean, safe, and organised working environment.
- Manufacture products that meet agreed quality standards and aerospace requirements.
Centreless Grinder Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience setting and running manual centreless grinding machines.
- Strong understanding of aerospace standards.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Excellent measurement skills, including use of micrometers and working to tight tolerances.
- High attention to detail with a strong focus on quality.
- A positive team player with good communication skills.

- Salary: £30,000 – £35,000 (dependent on experience)
