Salary: £19 - £22 p/h
We are seeking a highly skilled CNC Miller, capable of working confidently as a CNC Programmer, CNC Setter/Operator, and all round machining specialist within a busy precision engineering environment in Slough, SL3.
This permanent opportunity is ideal for a CNC Miller who enjoys producing high quality, tight tolerance parts and wants to further develop their expertise.
Key Responsibilities of a CNC Miller / CNC Programmer / CNC Setter Operator
- Create, develop and optimise CNC milling programs using advanced CAD/CAM software, supporting continuous improvements in machining performance.
- Generate, modify and refine CNC programs for machines running on Fanuc controls, ensuring accurate and reliable operation.
- Interpret detailed engineering drawings to establish efficient machining strategies across varied precision engineering projects.
- Select and set up appropriate tooling, fixturing and cutting parameters to maximise productivity and ensure consistent quality as a CNC Miller and CNC Setter Operator.
- Set, operate and prove out 3 axis, 4 axis and 5 axis CNC machining centres (HAAS, Matsuura, Mazak), demonstrating strong CNC Programmer capability.
- Perform first off inspections and ongoing in-process checks using precision measurement equipment to maintain the high standards expected in precision engineering.
- Troubleshoot machining issues promptly to minimise downtime and support smooth workflow across production.
- Maintain accurate setup sheets, tooling records and program documentation, ensuring all CNC Miller and CNC Programmer processes are fully traceable.
- Collaborate with engineers and production teams to support successful project delivery and continuous improvement.
- Contribute to lean manufacturing initiatives and help drive improvements across the precision engineering department.
Requirements of a CNC Programmer / CNC Miller / CNC Setter Operator
- Proven experience working as a CNC Miller (Programmer/Setter/Operator) in a high quality precision engineering environment.
- Strong working knowledge of CAD/CAM software for CNC milling program creation and optimisation.
- Experience with Fanuc control systems is highly advantageous and strongly preferred.
- Excellent attention to detail, problem solving ability and commitment to producing precision components.
- Ability to work independently as a CNC Miller as well as effectively within a team.
- Engineering qualifications or recognised machining certifications are an advantage.
