4-Day Working Week | Monday to Thursday | 37 Hours

A well-established aerospace engineering company is looking for an experienced CNC Setter & Operator to join its growing production team. This is an excellent opportunity to secure a permanent role offering a genuine work-life balance with every Friday off.

Working within a precision engineering environment, you’ll be responsible for setting, operating and supporting the programming of high-spec CNC machinery producing complex, high-tolerance aerospace components.

The Role as a CNC Setter 

You will play a key part in ensuring production runs efficiently, safely and to the highest quality standards. The role involves working across a variety of CNC machinery and supporting continuous improvement throughout manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities as a CNC Setter 

  • Set and operate CNC lathes, turning mills and bar-fed machinery
  • Work with fixed-head and sliding-head machines including Doosan, Hardinge, Mori and Star
  • Support second-operation machinery including grinders, thread rollers, drill banks and deburring equipment
  • Carry out first-off inspections and in-process quality checks
  • Read and interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications
  • Work with aerospace-grade materials including aluminium, stainless steel and Inconel
  • Coordinate machine setting and programming activities with fellow setters
  • Maintain production records and update EFACS systems accurately
  • Minimise scrap and improve manufacturing efficiency
  • Complete routine machine maintenance and daily performance checks
  • Maintain a safe, clean and organised working environment
  • Support and mentor junior operators where required

Skills & Experience Required

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience within aerospace engineering
  • Proven CNC setting and operating experience
  • Experience with first and second-operation machinery
  • Knowledge of Fanuc and Seiki controls
  • Familiarity with bar-feed machines
  • Ability to read engineering drawings confidently
  • Strong inspection and measurement skills
  • Practical understanding of machine maintenance
