CNC Setter/Operator – Aerospace Manufacturing

Job Type: Permanent, full-time
Salary: £40,000–£45,000 per annum
Working hours: Monday to Thursday, 8:00am–5:00pm; Friday, 8:00am-12:00pm

We are recruiting an experienced CNC Setter / Operator to join a specialist aerospace manufacturing team in Chalgrove. This varied position involves machining precision components within a small-batch manufacturing cell, alongside inspection, assembly, and finishing work.

The Role

  • Set and operate 4-axis and 5-axis CNC milling machines and multi-turret CNC lathes.
  • Plan machine workloads for daytime and unmanned production.
  • Build and set tooling assemblies.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and CNC programmes.
  • Carry out batch and in-process component inspections using precision measuring equipment.
  • Deburr and fettle machined components.
  • Assemble and kit parts to drawing specifications.
  • Undertake degreasing, coating preparation, application and curing.
  • Complete preventative maintenance and support 5S manufacturing standards.

Requirements

  • Experience setting and operating CNC machinery.
  • Ability to read CNC programme code and interpret detailed engineering drawings.
  • Good knowledge of cutting tools and machining different materials.
  • Experience using inspection and measuring equipment.
  • Relevant engineering qualifications and a recognised engineering apprenticeship.
  • GCSE English and Maths at grades 4–9 / A–C.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Basic Microsoft Word and Excel skills.
