Salary: £75,000 - £90,000 per annum (DOE)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Commercial Manager to join a well-established organisation operating within the aerospace engineering and manufacturing sector. This is a senior leadership position responsible for overseeing all commercial and contractual activities across multiple business units, supporting business growth, profitability and operational excellence.
The successful candidate will be based across sites in Stansted, Southend and Harlow; therefore, living within a commutable distance is essential. A relocation package is available for suitable applicants.
The Role
Reporting directly to senior leadership, you will take ownership of all commercial matters, ensuring contractual compliance, minimising commercial risk and driving profitable growth across the business. You will lead and develop the Commercial team, implementing robust processes and procedures while maintaining strong relationships with customers, suppliers and key stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all commercial and contractual activities, including contract reviews, negotiations, customer terms and conditions, NDAs and long-term agreements.
- Identify, manage and mitigate commercial and contractual risks.
- Demonstrate strong commercial awareness, providing strategic insight to support business growth, profitability and decision-making.
- Lead, develop and manage the Commercial team, fostering a high-performance culture and ensuring effective people management.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers and stakeholders at both operational and senior management levels.
- Monitor commercial performance of customer accounts and identify opportunities to improve profitability.
- Oversee bid, tender and quotation activities, ensuring compliance with customer requirements and deadlines.
- Manage estimating and quoting functions, ensuring accurate, competitive and timely pricing support.
- Develop, implement and improve commercial procedures, policies and KPIs.
- Ensure compliance with contractual, regulatory and import/export requirements.
- Support business development activities and evaluate new commercial opportunities.
- Work closely with operational teams to ensure contractual obligations and service delivery expectations are achieved.
- Produce management reports, performance metrics and commercial insights for senior leadership.
- Support audits, compliance activities and continuous improvement initiatives.
About You
To be considered, you should have:
- Significant Commercial Management experience within a senior leadership role.
- Strong background in contract law, contract negotiation and commercial risk management.
- Essential experience within the aerospace, aviation, MRO, engineering or manufacturing sector.
- Proven experience of estimating, quoting and pricing activities within a technical or engineering environment.
- Experience managing import/export compliance requirements and associated commercial processes.
- Proven track record of customer account management and supporting business growth.
- Strong commercial acumen and commercial awareness with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Previous people management experience, with a proven ability to lead, motivate and develop teams.
- Experience creating and monitoring KPIs and performance metrics.
- Excellent organisational, communication and leadership skills.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office and business management systems.
