The Role

MTS Recruitment is currently recruiting a Cylinder Shop Trainee to join a cylinder workshop in Southend-on-Sea. This is an opportunity for someone with an aviation background and strong mechanical skills to work on the testing, fault-finding, repair and reassembly of oxygen cylinders.

Working within the cylinder workshop, you will help ensure all work is completed safely, accurately and in accordance with manufacturer instructions and company procedures.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Testing, fault-finding, repairing and reassembling oxygen cylinders in line with manufacturer manuals and instructions.
  • Maintaining quality standards and following established procedures.
  • Ensuring a safe working environment and complying with relevant safety requirements.
  • Preparing workshop reports and material reviews to support customer estimates.
  • Recording inspection findings accurately.
  • Understanding customer requirements and helping to ensure these are met.
  • Following company procedures and maintaining accurate documentation.

Requirements

  • Previous experience or a background in an aviation environment is essential.
  • Strong mechanical skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, preferably original equipment manufacturer (OEM) manuals.
  • Good understanding of Microsoft Office and business systems.
  • Ability to record inspection findings accurately.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • A team-player attitude, with a strong focus on safety and attention to detail.
