Working hours: Monday to Thursday, 8:00am–5:00pm; Friday, 8:00am-12:00pm

MTS Recruitment is looking for a Detail Assembly Fitter to join a specialist manufacturing operation in Chalgrove. This permanent opportunity would suit someone with hands-on manufacturing or assembly experience who enjoys working with tools, engineering drawings and precision components, with the opportunity to work across assembly, machining and inspection.

The Role

You will carry out a range of hands-on manufacturing duties within a small-volume production environment, primarily assembling rocket motor hardware. Working from engineering drawings and work instructions, you will ensure components are assembled accurately and meet the required tolerances and quality standards.

  • Assemble components accurately to required tolerances.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions.
  • Use basic hand tools and appropriate assembly equipment.
  • Carry out machining and inspection tasks when required.
  • Check tools and equipment are suitable and fit for purpose.
  • Record work in progress using SAP.
  • Handle components and materials carefully and safely.
  • Carry out inspection approvals in line with company procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and efficient working environment.
  • Support 5S and continuous improvement activities.
  • Work closely with supervisors, team leaders and other operatives.
  • Share knowledge and support less experienced colleagues where appropriate.

Requirements

  • Basic production or manufacturing experience in a similar environment.
  • Basic understanding of engineering drawings.
  • Basic hand-tool experience.
  • Basic PC and SAP skills.
  • Basic administration skills.
  • Ability to work accurately to specifications and required quality standards.
  • GCSE-level education or equivalent.
  • Commitment to following health and safety procedures.
