We are seeking a capable Electronics Engineer to join a highly specialised technical team working on advanced cryogenic and scientific measurement systems.
This role will support four senior engineers/scientists, all PhD-qualified, contributing to the development, maintenance, and refinement of precision analogue measurement electronics used in instruments such as Vibrating Sample Magnetometers (VSM) and related systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, test, and support analogue electronic circuits for low-noise AC voltage measurements
- Work with audio-frequency and RF circuitry in high-sensitivity measurement environments
- Support and collaborate with senior technical staff on experimental and instrumentation needs
- Liaise closely with the Electronics Director on technical matters (without direct line management responsibility)
- Assist with fault-finding, optimisation, and documentation of analogue systems
Essential Skills & Experience
- Graduated with 2:1 bachelor’s degree or 1st in Electronics Engineering or a closely related discipline
- Graduate-level candidate with some relevant industry or laboratory experience
- Must have good practical skills, who can solder, build boxes of electronics.
- Strong knowledge of analogue electronics
- Practical experience with audio-frequency and RF circuits
- Familiarity with low-noise measurement techniques
- Comfortable working in a research or advanced engineering environment
Desirable (but not essential)
- Experience with scientific instrumentation or cryogenic systems
- Exposure to magnetics, sensors, or precision measurement systems
