About the Fabrication Quality Control Inspector Role

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Fabrication Quality Control Inspector to join our Inspection team based in Woodside, Bishops Stortford. Reporting to the Senior Chief Inspector, you will play a key role in ensuring that fabricated sheet metal, welded and assembled components meet customer, industry and company quality standards.

Fabrication Quality Control Inspector Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out First Off, Stage and Final Inspection of fabricated sheet metal, welded and assembled components.
  • Verify compliance with customer specifications, engineering drawings and industry standards.
  • Produce inspection reports and First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) in accordance with AS9102 requirements.
  • Identify, document and report non-conforming products.
  • Support MRB and Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) activities.
  • Maintain quality records and documentation using company systems.
  • Perform dimensional inspections using a range of measuring equipment including verniers, micrometers and other inspection tools.
  • Ensure inspection procedures are followed and records remain accurate and up to date.
  • Support continuous improvement and quality initiatives throughout the business.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping and 5S within the inspection area.
  • Work closely with Quality, Engineering and Production teams to ensure customer requirements are achieved.

Fabrication Quality Control Inspector Skills & Experience Required

  • Previous quality inspection experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Experience using hand-held measuring equipment such as verniers, micrometers and gauges.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
  • Good communication and organisational skills.
  • Competent PC skills and experience using quality management systems.
  • Knowledge of problem-solving and corrective action methodologies.

Desirable

  • Experience within sheet metal fabrication, welding or aerospace manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of AS9100 quality management systems.
  • Experience completing AS9102 First Article Inspections.
  • Previous involvement in MRB and RCCA activities.
