Salary: £35,000 – £36,000 per annum + possible overtime

We are currently seeking a Finishing Operative (Rumbling) to join a well-established aerospace manufacturing environment. This role plays a key part in preparing precision metal components to exact finishing standards prior to further processing and assembly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate barrel tumbling and vibratory finishing equipment to achieve required surface finishes
  • Prepare metallic components for further processing and finishing
  • Mask and protect bores, holes and critical surfaces prior to processing
  • Inspect components to ensure quality and specification compliance
  • Interpret part numbers, drawings and process specifications
  • Pack and move finished parts for internal transport and storage
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping and safety within the finishing area

Rumbling (vibratory finishing) is commonly used to deburr, smooth, and polish metal components by vibrating them with abrasive media to create a consistent finish and remove imperfections.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing, engineering or finishing environment
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Basic understanding of measuring equipment and inspection processes
  • Knowledge of health & safety practices and COSHH regulations
  • Strong attention to detail and quality standards
  • Ability to work efficiently within a team environment

Desirable

  • Experience with tumbling, vibratory finishing or surface preparation processes
  • Aerospace or precision engineering background
