Working Hours
- Monday to Thursday: 07:00 – 16:00
- Friday: 07:00 – 12:00
Flexibility is required for this role and may include overtime, early starts and late finishes when necessary.
About the Goods-In & Calibration Assistant Role
We are looking for a motivated and reliable Goods-In & Calibration Assistant to join our busy Goods In team in Chelmsford. This is a varied hands-on role supporting the receipt, inspection, storage, movement and reporting of production materials and consumables across the site.
The successful candidate will also receive training in calibration support and engraving equipment operation, making this an excellent opportunity for someone who is keen to learn, develop new skills and grow within a manufacturing environment.
Goods-In & Calibration Assistant Key Responsibilities
- Assist with receiving, inspecting and booking in deliveries of production components and consumables
- Operate a forklift truck to unload deliveries (training can be provided if required)
- Move materials safely throughout the site
- Cut, count, batch and palletise incoming production components
- Transport palletised goods to the correct storage or production areas
- Use an engraving machine to serialise metal tags attached to production components (full training provided)
- Support the Goods In function and provide cover during periods of holiday or sickness
- Assist with equipment calibration activities following training
- Use ERP/MRP systems to log and track stock and material movements
- Maintain accurate records and follow company procedures
- Support general warehouse and operational duties as required
About You
We are looking for someone with a positive attitude and willingness to learn. Previous experience is helpful but not essential, as full training will be provided for the right candidate.
Essential Skills & Attributes
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Flexible and dependable approach to work
- Good time management and organisational skills
- Basic computer literacy and confidence using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Willingness to undertake manual handling duties in line with HSE guidelines
- Eagerness to learn new systems and processes
Desirable Experience
- Previous experience in a warehouse, goods-in or manufacturing environment
- Experience using MRP/ERP systems
- Forklift truck licence or previous materials handling experience
