About the Hydraulic Shop Technician Role

We are seeking a skilled Hydraulic Shop Technician to join our Aircraft Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) workshop in Southend. You will be responsible for the testing, repair, and overhaul of aircraft hydraulic components, ensuring all work meets strict aviation safety and quality standards in line with EASA Part 145 regulations.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with aviation hydraulic experience who takes pride in precision engineering and high-quality workmanship.

 

Hydraulic Shop Technician Key Responsibilities

  • Test, repair, and overhaul aircraft hydraulic components in accordance with OEM manuals and specifications
  • Operate hydraulic test rigs, including Skydrol and hydraulic oil systems
  • Ensure all work complies with quality, safety, and regulatory requirements (EASA Part 145)
  • Complete accurate workshop reports and inspection documentation
  • Support preparation of estimates for customers through technical reporting
  • Undertake risk assessments and maintain a safe working environment
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce costs, and improve turnaround times
  • Work collaboratively as part of a skilled engineering team
  • Carry out additional workshop duties as required

 

About You

  • Previous experience in an aviation hydraulic workshop or MRO environment (essential)
  • Strong understanding of aircraft maintenance standards and procedures
  • Familiarity with hydraulic systems, test equipment, and fluid types (Skydrol experience desirable)
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and engineering drawings
  • High attention to detail with strong record-keeping skills
  • Good organisational and planning abilities
  • Confident using Microsoft Office and workshop/business systems
  • Strong communication skills and a team-focused approach
  • Safety-conscious with a commitment to quality workmanship
