Location: Harlow, Essex
Salary: £32,000 - £36,000
Job Type: Full-time, permanent

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Machinist to join a busy engineering workshop based in Harlow. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Machinist with experience operating conventional workshop machinery and working from engineering drawings.

Previous aerospace experience would be beneficial but is not essential.

The Role

As a Machinist, you will carry out a range of general and specialised machining tasks to support workshop operations.

The Machinist will be responsible for:

  • Operating machinery including lathes, milling machines, jig borers and grinders
  • Repairing customer equipment in accordance with job requirements and approved technical data
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical information
  • Carrying out routine and preventative maintenance on workshop machinery
  • Removing and installing bushings, bearings, cups and liners
  • Ensuring all work is completed safely and to the required quality standards
  • Using the correct personal protective equipment
  • Completing other workshop duties within your capabilities when required

Requirements

The successful Machinist should have:

  • Previous experience working as a Machinist within an engineering or manufacturing environment
  • Experience operating conventional lathes, mills, grinders or jig borers
  • The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical data
  • Strong time-management skills
  • The ability to work efficiently and meet deadlines
  • Good attention to detail
  • A strong understanding of workshop health and safety
  • Aerospace industry experience would be advantageous but is not essential
