The role

Join us on this mission as a maintenance engineer within our friendly and supportive Machine Shop Department. The purpose of the role is to carry out maintenance and repair of all CNC machines and equipment so that downtime is minimised and production targets are met. As a maintenance engineer, you will play a vital part in keeping our advanced manufacturing operations running safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.

What you’ll be doing

  • Follow the Total Preventative Maintenance schedule for machines and equipment, including checking and changing lubricants and coolants.
  • Replace worn parts and wiring in accordance with machine manuals and specifications.
  • Repair machines and equipment as required, liaising with external suppliers when necessary.
  • Transport materials, components and finished parts using forklift trucks and approved lifting equipment.
  • Ensure all processes are carried out in line with SOPs, quality standards, and Health & Safety regulations (including Risk Assessments, COSHH and MSDS).
  • Support Lean initiatives such as 5S and continuous improvement activities.
  • Monitor the condition and fitness for purpose of tools and equipment, arranging replacement or recalibration where required.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping to ensure a clean, safe and efficient working environment.
  • Undertake relevant in-house or external training and adopt modern engineering practices.

Characteristics & skills required

  • Certified IEE 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
  • Forklift licence
  • Competent use of hand tools and testers
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment with CNC machine tools (typically 4 & 5 axis machining centres and CNC turning machines)
  • GCSE Maths and English at Grade Pass (or equivalent)
  • Good manual dexterity and a practical, problem-solving minds
