Our client’s company is expanding, and we’re looking for a talented Machinist who has experience working with a range of manual and/or CNC machines — lathes, mills, borers, grinders, drill machines, and more to join their high-performing workshop team.
What We Offer
- Permanent contract – stable, long-term role
- 36.5-hour working week
- Hours:
- Mon–Thurs: 7:30am – 3:00pm
- Friday: 7:30am – 1:30pm
- Salary : £34,980 – £41,040 (experience dependent)
- Annual bonus (pro rata for year of joining)

About the Role
In this critical workshop role, you’ll be machining, restoring, and manufacturing high-precision components used across rail, marine, and power generation sectors. Every day brings something different — complex challenges, specialist engineering tasks, and the chance to work on components that literally keep industries running.
Key Responsibilities or a Machinist – CNC Machines
- Machining excellence: Set up and operate a range of manual and/or CNC machines — lathes, mills, borers, grinders, drill machines, and more.
- High-precision work: Produce and refurbish components to tight tolerances, ensuring exceptional quality and accuracy.
- Technical interpretation: Read complex engineering drawings and technical instructions confidently (metric and imperial).
- Quality assurance: Use precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, etc.) to inspect work and ensure compliance.
- Workshop care: Carry out routine machine maintenance and maintain a clean, safe working environment.
- Team collaboration: Work closely with engineering, production, and design teams to deliver seamless project outcomes.
What We’re Looking For in a machinist
- Significant experience in a manual machining or general engineering workshop.
- Time-served apprenticeship or similar engineering qualification (preferred).
- Strong mechanical aptitude and solid understanding of maths and engineering principles.
- A meticulous, quality-driven mindset, with excellent attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to follow technical direction.
