Masking Supervisor – Lead a Skilled Production Team
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Masking Supervisor to join our growing operation in Chelmsford. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and hands-on Masking Supervisor to take ownership of daily departmental operations while driving quality, productivity, and continuous improvement.
The successful Masking Supervisor will oversee a team of 6 day-shift employees and coordinate effectively with 2 night-shift staff to ensure smooth workflow, strong communication, and consistent production output.
This role is ideal for someone with strong masking experience, leadership ability, and a proactive approach within a manufacturing or aerospace environment.
Key Responsibilities of the Masking Supervisor
- Oversee the day-to-day running of the Masking Department
- Lead, support, and motivate the masking team to achieve production targets
- Interpret engineering drawings and train team members accordingly
- Work closely with Inspection and Site Management to resolve technical queries
- Allocate and prioritise workloads in line with Production Control requirements
- Monitor productivity, quality standards, and team performance
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives
- Manage workflow bottlenecks and improve operational efficiency
- Maintain masking templates and ensure staff are fully trained in their use
- Monitor and maintain consumable stock levels within the department
- Ensure health, safety, and quality standards are maintained at all times
Experience required for this role:
- Previous masking experience within manufacturing or engineering
- Aerospace experience preferred, although other industries will be considered
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
- Proactive and hands-on approach
- Strong communication and team leadership abilities
