Salary: £32,000 – £35,000 per annum
Hours: 37 hours per week
Monday to Thursday: 8:00am – 5:00pm
Friday: 8:00am – 12:00pm

The Role

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Assembly Operative to join a busy manufacturing team based in Denham, UB9.

The successful candidate will carry out a range of mechanical assembly, inspection and testing operations. This will include working with cables, pipes, high-pressure hoses and mechanical components, ensuring all work is completed to the required quality standards and production schedules.

Key duties will include:

  • Mechanical assembly of components using engineering drawings, build plans and work instructions
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings accurately
  • Using engineering hand tools and measuring equipment
  • Carrying out self-inspection and quality checks on completed work
  • Working with adhesives and bonded components
  • Preparing, fitting and assembling components to specification
  • Ensuring all work meets required quality and Health & Safety standards
  • Following SOPs, COSHH requirements and relevant manufacturing procedures
  • Supporting continuous improvement and 5S activities
  • Maintaining tools, equipment and a clean and safe working environment

The role also involves specialist assembly work using kits of components, technical drawings and specifications, including masking components, bonding parts using adhesives and preparing completed assemblies for inspection.

The Candidate

The ideal Mechanical Assembly Operative will have:

  • Previous mechanical assembly, manufacturing or engineering experience
  • Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings
  • Familiarity with engineering hand tools
  • Basic understanding of measuring equipment
  • Good attention to detail and a strong focus on quality
  • An understanding of Health & Safety and COSHH procedures
  • Basic PC skills
  • Experience using adhesives would be advantageous
  • SAP experience would be advantageous
  • A Mechanical Apprenticeship would be desirable

This would suit candidates who have previously worked as a Mechanical Assembler, Assembly Operative, Mechanical Fitter, Production Assembler, Manufacturing Operative or Engineering Assembly Technician.
