Pay, Hours & Benefits
- £15.00–£15.50 per hour (depending on experience)
- Monday to Friday – 8:00am to 4:30pm
- Regular overtime available

Role Overview
As a polisher fettler and grinder, you will be responsible for preparing and finishing metal components to a high standard. You will work with a wide range of tools and equipment to grind, polish, deburr and finish parts ready for coating, assembly, or installation.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare metal components by removing burrs, sharp edges, weld spatter and excess material.
- Operate grinding, polishing, fettling and sanding equipment to achieve precise finishes.
- Inspect parts for defects such as cracks, pits, scratches or surface inconsistencies.
- Read and follow drawings or finishing instructions to meet required tolerances.
- Clean and prepare surfaces for paint, powder-coat, anodising or other finishing processes.
- Work closely with fabrication and finishing teams to ensure parts meet production deadlines.
- Maintain tools, machines and work area in a safe and tidy condition.
- Identify and report any quality issues, ensuring high standards are maintained.
- Assist with final assembly preparation and other finishing tasks when required.
Skills & Experience Needed
We are especially interested in candidates with strong hands-on skills. Must have:
- Proven experience as a polisher fettler and grinder in an engineering environment.
- Strong ability to use hand tools, polishing wheels, grinders, belt sanders and similar equipment.
- Excellent attention to detail with a focus on high-quality surface finish.
- Ability to work from engineering drawings and follow technical instructions.
- Experience in in grinding, polishing and fettling
- Knowledge of finishing requirements for materials such as aluminium, stainless steel and mild steel.
- Good awareness of health & safety, PPE, ventilation and safe handling of metal components.
- Reliable work ethic, team player attitude and willingness to work overtime when required.
