About the Project Manager Role
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Manager to join a well-established aerospace manufacturing business. This is a key leadership role responsible for managing customer programmes from order receipt through to final delivery, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget and in full compliance with aerospace quality and regulatory standards.
Working closely with customers, suppliers and internal departments, you will coordinate manufacturing activities across CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, welding, assembly, special processes and subcontract operations. You will also lead the Production Control team, driving planning, scheduling and operational performance to achieve outstanding customer delivery.
Please note: Due to the specialist nature of this role, only applicants with proven Project or Programme Management experience gained within the aerospace manufacturing industry will be considered.
Project Manager Key Responsibilities
- Manage multiple aerospace customer programmes from contract award through to final delivery.
- Develop and maintain project plans, schedules and delivery milestones.
- Lead the Production Control team responsible for planning and scheduling manufacturing activities.
- Monitor production progress and implement recovery plans where required.
- Coordinate Engineering, Production, Purchasing, Quality and Logistics to achieve customer delivery commitments.
- Manage supplier and subcontractor performance to ensure materials and services are delivered on time.
- Drive On-Time Delivery (OTD) performance across all assigned customer programmes.
- Lead customer and internal project review meetings.
- Ensure compliance with AS9100, customer requirements and company procedures.
- Analyse operational KPIs and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
Project Manager Essential Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- A minimum of 5 years' Project or Programme Management experience within an aerospace manufacturing environment.
- Experience managing complex aerospace manufacturing programmes from order receipt through to delivery.
- A minimum of 3 years' experience leading or supervising teams.
- Strong knowledge of aerospace manufacturing processes and production planning.
- Experience using ERP/MRP systems.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Commercial awareness with the ability to manage delivery performance, costs and schedules.
Desirable
- Knowledge of AS9100 quality management systems.
- PRINCE2, APM or PMP qualification.
- Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement experience.
