Location: Bishop's Stortford
Salary: £40,000 - £47,000 per annum
Job Type: Permanent
Working Hours: Monday to Thursday, 7:30am – 4:30pm & Friday, 7:30am – 12:30pm

About the Quality Engineer Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Quality Engineer to join our Quality team in a manufacturing environment. Reporting directly to the Quality Manager, you will play a key role in maintaining and improving the Quality Management System, supporting regulatory compliance, and ensuring the highest standards of quality across operations.

This is an excellent opportunity for a quality professional with AS9100 experience who enjoys working collaboratively across departments and driving continuous improvement.

Quality Engineer Key Responsibilities

  • Support all activities within the Quality Department.
  • Assist the Quality Manager with quality-related projects and special tasks.
  • Support the training and development of Quality personnel.
  • Maintain and update quality manuals, procedures, and system documentation.
  • Conduct internal audits across the business.
  • Liaise with production teams regarding quality and technical matters.
  • Respond to customer quality and technical enquiries.
  • Coordinate with external auditors during quality audits and approval assessments.
  • Monitor and improve existing quality systems and processes.
  • Assist with supplier and subcontractor quality records and performance ratings.
  • Monitor scrap reporting systems and support the preparation of reports.
  • Collate information for Management Review meetings.
  • Conduct root cause investigations and implement corrective actions with production teams.
  • Manage and investigate non-conformances.
  • Maintain and analyse KPI data, including Delivery Schedule Adherence and On-Time Delivery performance.
  • Undertake other duties within your capabilities as required.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Essential

  • Strong understanding of AS9100 standards.
  • Experience conducting AS9100 audits.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with customers, auditors, and internal teams.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word.
  • Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.

Desirable

  • NADCAP auditing experience.
  • Experience using Q-Pulse quality management software.
  • Previous experience within an aerospace or precision manufacturing environment.
