Quality Engineer

About the Quality Engineer Role
We are seeking a Quality Engineer to support the Quality Manager in maintaining and improving the Quality Management System, ensuring compliance with relevant national and international standards.
You will play a key role in driving continuous improvement, supporting audits, and ensuring quality standards are upheld across all areas of the business.
Quality Engineer Key Responsibilities
- Support the Quality Manager and deputise in their absence, including hosting customer and third-party audits
- Maintain and improve the Quality Management System in line with ISO9001:2015
- Conduct internal audits and special process assessments, producing reports in a timely manner
- Manage and follow up on non-conformance reports (NCRs) from internal and external sources
- Carry out supplier assessments, audits, and appraisals where required
- Prepare Quality Plans and Method Statements
- Control the release of technical documentation to production
- Complete First Article Inspections (FAIs) for internal, external, and customer projects
- Maintain the calibration system and coordinate with external service providers
- Support inspection activities within goods-inwards
- Deliver process and quality training when required
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs
- Undertake additional duties as required
About You
- Degree or HNC in an engineering or technical discipline
- Experience working within quality systems in a safety-critical engineering environment
- Knowledge of engineering standards (rail industry experience desirable)
- ISO9001:2015 Internal or Lead Auditor certification
- Familiarity with special processes (desirable)
- Strong understanding of quality assurance techniques
- Experience using measurement equipment such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and CMMs
- Able to work independently with a proactive and flexible approach
- Strong communication skills with the ability to mentor and support colleagues

- Effective NCR management and resolution
- Successful audit planning and completion
- Delivery of continuous improvement initiatives
Salary: £40,000 – £50,000 per year
Hours: 36.5 hours per week
- Monday to Thursday: 8:30am – 4:30pm
- Friday: 8:30am – 3:30pm
