We are recruiting an experienced Quality Engineer to join a leading precision manufacturing company in Abingdon. If you have a passion for quality, attention to detail, and experience working with complex engineering drawings, we would like to hear from you.
You’ll be part of a collaborative, forward-thinking team producing high-precision, low-volume components for industries including aerospace, energy, medical, and advanced technology.
The Role
- Maintain and improve quality standards across all manufacturing operations
- Lead audits, non-conformance investigations, and root-cause analysis (8D/5Why)
- Liaise with customers and suppliers on quality-related matters
- Support inspection teams and train operators in quality systems and techniques
- Oversee calibration systems for measuring and test equipment
- Drive continuous improvement and ensure QMS documentation is up to date
About You
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Quality Engineer or similar role
- Strong mechanical engineering background (Apprenticeship preferred)
- Confident interpreting complex engineering drawings
- Experience with non-conformance management, calibration, and audits
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Desirable:
- CMM programming experience (PC-DMIS Level 2 or higher)
- Familiarity with Hexagon S Chrome CMMs
- ISO 9000 Auditor qualification
