Sales Manager – (Marine Industry - UK & Ireland)

Salary: £80,000 – £100,000 (depending on experience)
Bonus: Target 15% of base salary

 

About the Sales Manager Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Sales Manager to lead and grow a rapidly expanding marine business across the UK and Ireland. This is a critical hire due to an upcoming departure, and we are looking to appoint someone who can build on strong existing foundations and drive the next phase of growth.

The marine division has grown significantly in recent years, reaching approximately €50 million in new business, with a projected growth to €150 million over the next five years across new equipment and service. This growth is being driven by increasing investment in marine propulsion, particularly linked to the offshore wind and service vessel markets.

This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of a high-value market, manage key customer relationships, and play a strategic role in future expansion.

 

Sales Manager Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the marine business across the UK & Ireland, covering service and new equipment sales
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers and key stakeholders across the marine industry
  • Identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities from initial lead through to contract award
  • Manage and maintain a robust sales pipeline using CRM systems (e.g. Salesforce)
  • Prepare, negotiate, and close commercial proposals and contracts
  • Set and manage budgets, forecasts, and performance targets
  • Identify new markets, applications, and revenue streams
  • Represent the business at industry events, trade shows, and networking forums
  • Manage field service operations, including planning and HSE documentation
  • Lead and develop a small team (3 direct reports)
  • Work closely with internal teams across engineering, project management, service, and finance
  • Support financial processes, including managing overdue accounts where required

 

About You

Essential:

  • 10+ years’ experience in the marine industry (UK and/or international)
  • Strong background in capital equipment sales and complex contract negotiations
  • Proven ability to manage long sales cycles and high-value projects
  • Strong technical understanding of marine systems and equipment
  • Experience managing or leading a team
  • Excellent relationship-building and stakeholder management skills
  • Commercially driven with the ability to identify and develop new revenue streams

Desirable:

  • Engineering degree or equivalent technical qualification
  • Experience with long-term service agreements
  • Existing network within the marine sector (operators, shipyards, designers, etc.)
  • Experience with MOD-related projects (desirable but not essential, as work is often delivered via intermediaries)
