Job Summary:
As a Steel Works Workshop Operative, you will perform various tasks in a steel fabrication workshop. Responsibilities include operating machinery, assisting in the fabrication and assembly of steel components, maintaining safety and cleanliness, and ensuring product quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in fabricating and assembling steel structures, following specifications and blueprints.
- Operate workshop machinery (saws, drills, presses, welding equipment) safely and efficiently.
- Inspect completed work for quality and report defects.
- Handle materials, using cranes, forklifts, and other lifting equipment.
- Maintain and clean workshop equipment and tools.
- Follow health and safety regulations and participate in safety training.
- Keep accurate records of work, materials, and time.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth workflow.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Experience in a steel fabrication workshop or similar environment is preferred.
- Proficiency with hand and power tools, welding equipment, and machinery.
- Physical fitness for lifting heavy materials and standing for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail and quality.
- Knowledge of health and safety practices.
- Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work overtime when required.
Work Environment:
The role involves manual labor, including lifting, bending, and operating machinery, with exposure to noise, dust, and heavy machinery.
