Position Title: Steel Works Workshop Operative
Location: Feltham, TW14    
Reports To: Workshop Supervisor/Manager
Employment Type: Full-Time

Job Summary:

As a Steel Works Workshop Operative, you will perform various tasks in a steel fabrication workshop. Responsibilities include operating machinery, assisting in the fabrication and assembly of steel components, maintaining safety and cleanliness, and ensuring product quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in fabricating and assembling steel structures, following specifications and blueprints.
  • Operate workshop machinery (saws, drills, presses, welding equipment) safely and efficiently.
  • Inspect completed work for quality and report defects.
  • Handle materials, using cranes, forklifts, and other lifting equipment.
  • Maintain and clean workshop equipment and tools.
  • Follow health and safety regulations and participate in safety training.
  • Keep accurate records of work, materials, and time.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth workflow.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience in a steel fabrication workshop or similar environment is preferred.
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools, welding equipment, and machinery.
  • Physical fitness for lifting heavy materials and standing for extended periods.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality.
  • Knowledge of health and safety practices.
  • Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work overtime when required.

Work Environment:

The role involves manual labor, including lifting, bending, and operating machinery, with exposure to noise, dust, and heavy machinery.
