Working Hours: Monday to Thursday 07:30 – 17:00 & Friday 07:30 – 11:30

About the Trainee Manufacturing Engineer Role

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Trainee Manufacturing Engineer to join our established Manufacturing Engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has recently completed an Engineering Apprenticeship or has a solid engineering foundation and is looking to build a long-term career in Manufacturing Engineering.

The successful candidate will gain hands-on experience across all aspects of Manufacturing Engineering within the aerospace sector, supporting both military and commercial aircraft manufacturing projects.

Trainee Manufacturing Engineer Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out contract reviews for new and repeat orders
  • Interpret customer drawings, specifications, and regulatory requirements into manufacturing methods
  • Create bills of materials (BOMs) and manufacturing routings
  • Plan and define manufacturing operations for detail parts and assemblies
  • Create and manage jobs within the Kinetic MRP/ERP system
  • Generate and collate job packs, technical drawings, process sheets, and documentation for production
  • Input and manage set and run times within the ERP system
  • Raise requisitions for materials and outside processes
  • Liaise with customers, production teams, supervisors, and engineers regarding technical and manufacturing issues
  • Support continuous improvement of manufacturing methods and planning documentation
  • Assist with NCR/RCCA investigations and production engineering support
  • Ensure all documentation complies with company quality management systems
  • Support the Engineering Manager and wider Engineering team as required

About You

We are looking for someone who is eager to learn, organised, and able to work effectively within a team environment.

Trainee Manufacturing Engineer Essential Skills & Experience

  • Completed an Engineering Apprenticeship or possess a strong engineering background
  • Good understanding of manufacturing or engineering processes
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Able to manage workload and prioritise tasks effectively
  • Positive attitude with a willingness to develop and progress

Desirable Skills

  • Previous experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Aerospace or aviation industry experience
  • Knowledge of Catia V5 / 3D modelling
  • Experience using MRP/ERP systems
